Description: One person is dead and two seriously injured after a bus heading south on Highway 55 near Stanstead, Que., flipped onto its side Friday afternoon, Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Marc Butz said. The accident happened around 2:20 p.m. after the bus, carrying about 30 people and heading to the United States, was cut off by another vehicle near Curtis Rd., about 160 kilometres southeast of Montreal. The bus driver then lost control, drove into the soft shoulder on the right and hit a pole. The bus ended up on its side in the middle of the highway. The passenger bus is owned by Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company Big Apple Bus Tours. When reached Friday evening, the person who answered the phone said he didn’t know what had happened to the bus. “How can we know what happened? The police are on the scene right now. We don’t know anything,” the man said. Seven passengers were slightly injured in the accident. The highway remains closed for investigation.
