LOUISVILLE, Ky (Reuters) - In Kentucky, a Bible Belt state where voters have passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, the movement to promote gay rights has two factions.
Police raid Oregon motel to arrest man accused of slaying grandparents
PORTLAND, Oregon (Reuters) - Police stormed a motel room in Oregon on Tuesday to end an eight-hour standoff and arrest an ex-convict accused of killing his grandparents after they had thrown him a party to celebrate his release from prison, authorities said.
L.A. Archdiocese, Cardinal Mahony settle sex abuse cases

(Reuters) - A tug boat pushing an oil barge struck a pipeline in waters near New Orleans on Tuesday, setting off a fire and injuring the vessel's captain, and there were reports of oil in the water, the U.S. Coast Guard said on Tuesday.
