Description:

According to the Spanish Met Office (AEMET) 25 provinces across the country remain on amber alert (high risk) because of the threat of snow, extremely low temperatures and strong winds. The affected provinces are: Teruel, Zaragoza, Cantabria, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Toledo, Burgos, León, Palencia, Barcelona, Gerona, Lérida, Tarragona, Navarra, Alicante, Castellón, Valencia, Mallorca, Menorca, Álava, Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya, Asturias and Murcia. AEMET has issued a yellow alert (risk) in Huesca, Guadalajara, Ávila, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Zamora, Madrid, La Coruña, Lugo, Ibiza, Formentera, La Rioja and Melilla, also because of snow, low temperatures and high winds. Winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour are expected in a number of places, including Teruel, Zaragoza and Mallorca. There is a very high chance of snow in the provinces of Teruel, Cantabria, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Toledo, Burgos, Barcelona, Gerona, Lérida, Tarragona, Alicante, Castellón, Valencia, Álava, Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya, Asturias and Murcia. Burgos, León and Palencia will see temperatures drop dramatically, as low as minus 12 in some places.
