Description: It took awhile for the second wave of a huge winter storm to hit but it's here this morning. The same system responsible for dumping about 4 1/2 inches of wet, heavy snow in the Fargo-Moorhead area this weekend. We're now in a blizzard warning until 6 tonight. North winds of 25 to 35 mph With gusts of 45 to 50 mph is creating whiteout conditions in blowing and drifting snow especially in open country. Total new snowfall accumulation of 1 to 4 inches is expected. Beneath the new snow, lots of ice from the weekend sleet. Fargo public works Lee Anderson says take it easy out there. KFGO forecaster Terry Spies more than an inch of moisture fell in the rain, snow, sleet mix from Friday thru Saturday. That would have translated to more than 12 inches of snow had temps been colder. A number of rural electric customers in North Dakota remain without power. The weekend storm downed power lines and snapped power poles. State emergency manager Greg Wilz says crews are working where they can to restore power but he says it’s been so bad, some repair crews in the Raleigh, ND, area, along the Grant-Morton county border in south central North Dakota got stranded and had to be rescued by National Guard troops in big trucks.
