WARNING !!! Not confirmed information! Description: Lokbatan mud volcano that falls under the State Natural Reserve of Baku and Absheron Peninsula Mud Volcanoes Group erupted, press service of Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry said. The eruption lasted for an hour, the yellow, black mud spread in 1.5 ha area. The monitoring found out that the temperature was 20-30 degrees in the volcanic breccia during the eruption. Lokbata mud volcano, one of the most frequent active volcanoes in the world, first erupted in 1829. Since then, this volcano has erupted 21 times, the volcano erupted last in 2001. According to the State Natural Reserve of Baku and Absheron Peninsula Mud Volcanoes Group, mud volcanoes have recently become active as a result of the seismic activity in the south of the Caspian Sea.
