Description: A passenger train, carrying about 500 people, was derailed following a landslide caused by heavy rain in Torbat Heydarieh city, northeastern Iran. “The incident took place at about 4 p.m. local time (1230 GMT) Friday on the outskirts of Sarisha village of Torbat Heydarieh city, in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi, as a large rock — several tons in weight — slid down the side of a mountain,” Torbat Heydarieh Governor, Mojtaba Sadeghian, said. The solid boulder knocked the passenger train off the tracks, flinging it some 180 meters. No one was injured in the derailment, but train services from Mashhad to Tehran have been seriously affected, as the line has been closed. Passengers reported feeling "quite a shake" before a loud bang as rocks and debris flew from underneath the train. The train then came to a halt and the power went off. Passengers were taken from the wreck to a nearby nursing home before continuing their journeys by motor coaches.
