Description:

Intense rains started in Northern Peru too: Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque and La Libertad were hit by severe rainfalls that caused landslides, mudslides and floods in some districts. Rains fell on Tumbes during 21 hours, leaving 35.4 liters per square meter, that turned streets into rivers, but fortunately caused no personal injuries, according to Civil Defense reports. Chiclayo (Lambayeque) also suffered intense rains during six hours, that flooded the main avenues and affected some roads connecting to Cajamarca region. Regional authorities have also reported that the rivers have increased their water levels, and declared Lambayeque in yellow alert, in order to take the necessary precautions. As for Chulucanas and Sullana (in Piura), some country cottages fell down, due to intense 30-hours rains, which also caused some floods. Trujillo reported damages in some houses, but not in Chan Chan archaeological complex.
