Situation Update No. 1 Posted:2010-01-31, 05:47:00 [UTC] Ref.no.: SS-20100131-24746-HUN Situation Update No. 1 On 2010-02-01 at 17:13:36 [UTC] Event: Snow Storm Location: Hungary Statewide Situation: Hejce, a small village in north-east Hungary is inaccessible as the only road leading to the settlement is still covered with a thick blanket of snow, the local road manager said on Monday. Roads to Panyok, another village in the area which was paralysed by the heavy snowfall over the weekend, were cleared earlier in the day. In Budapest, the authorities cleaned some 1,200 kilometres of the most important roads and streets during the night. The company's 90 vehicles and nearly 700 workers are now busy removing the snow from side streets, spokesman Laszlo Horvath said. On Saturday and Sunday some 30 centimetres of snow fell in most parts of the country.
