Situation Update No. 3 Ref.no.: FF-20100202-24766-SPI
Situation Update No. 3 On 2010-02-03 at 17:54:05 [UTC] Event: Flash Flood Location: Canary-Islands (Esp.) Statewide Number of Deads: 1 person(s) Situation: The city council in Santa Cruz de Tenerife confirmed this morning that it was organising for food and water to be airlifted into Valle Brosque and Valle Crispín since the areas have been rendered inaccessible by road as a result of the recent flooding. No-one has been able to get into or out of these two areas by road since Monday because the recent heavy rain and high winds have destroyed the road linking them to the island's capital. Helicopters from the Canary Islands' Emergency Services will be used to take water and food to the towns until the road link can be re-established. Despite the fact that the worst of the inclement weather appears to be over, high winds are forecast again for today and the Santa Cruz city council is still urging people to stay at home and not make any unnecessary journeys. | | | |
