Description: Two men have been killed and almost 120 others - mostly school children - have been injured in a bus accident in Kwa-zulu Natal on Saturday. The overloaded vehicle veered-off the P100 near Ndwedwe, north-west of Durban on Saturday. It is believed the bus was transporting the children and their parents from their school’s headmaster’s funeral in Umzinyathi. Emergency services and paramedics had their hands full after the private coach, carrying 121 passengers, crashed into an electricity pole after rolling repeatedly. It is believed the driver lost control of the packed bus while navigating a steep incline on an uneven gravel track. The vehicle left the road and rolled several times before finally colliding with the pole. Most of the occupants managed to clamber out of the wrecked bus through small spaces. Netcare 911’s Jeff Wicks said 118 of the injured were stabilised on the scene. “They were transported to clinics and hospitals in the area. One critically injured man was airlifted by the Netcare air medical helicopter to the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital,” he said.
