Description: Forty-five people were hospitalised for acute diarrhoea last week in An Phu General Hospital, An Giang Province, seven of whom tested positive for the vibrio cholera bacteria, according to a Ministry of Health report on Friday. Director of the Preventive Medicine and Environment Department under the ministry Nguyen Huy Nga said that the seven patients who tested positive were from Cambodia. They came to Viet Nam for treatment after suffering from acute diarrhoea, he said. The ministry asked the provincial health department to inspect, monitor and decontaminate areas with a suspected outbreak and to disseminate information about disease prevention measures to the people in An Giang Province.
