U.S. to impose new airline security measures

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will implement new airline security measures this month to replace mandatory screening of air travelers from 14 countries, a step that had angered some allies when it was imposed after a failed bombing on Christmas Day.

BEIJING/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama urged his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao to help ratchet up pressure on Iran over its nuclear activities, but Hu did not openly commit to new sanctions on Tehran, according to official reports on Friday.

Killer of abortion doctor gets life in prison

KANSAS CITY (Reuters) - An anti-abortion activist who murdered one of America's few late-term abortion providers was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday in a case that galvanized both sides of the bitter U.S. debate over abortion.
