LONDON/KUWAIT (Reuters) - Shareholders in British oil company BP balked at reports it would seek urgent investment from a wealthy Middle East or Asian country as clean-up costs for its U.S. oil spill topped $3 billion.

Afghan war at critical stage, says Petraeus

KABUL (Reuters) - The nine-year war in Afghanistan has reached a critical stage, U.S. General David Petraeus said on Sunday, as he formally took command of the 150,000-strong NATO-led force fighting a growing Taliban insurgency.

NY airport terminal evacuated after anonymous call: report

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Terminal 1 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City was evacuated on Sunday due to a bomb scare, CNN reported, but it was probably a false alarm triggered by an anonymous call to the airport.

Turkey wants Israel apology, but Israel rejects demand

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey will cut ties with Israel unless it receives an apology over a deadly Israeli raid on a Turkish aid ship bound for Gaza, the Turkish foreign minister said, but Israel on Monday said it had no intention of doing so.

Iran says Germany, UK, UAE refuse fuel to its planes

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Monday that Germany, Britain and the United Arab Emirates were refusing to provide fuel to Iranian passenger planes following unilateral U.S. sanctions on the Islamic state, the ISNA news agency reported.
