Stock futures rise after Wal-Mart, Home Depot profits

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stock index futures rose on Tuesday after bellwether retailers Wal-Mart and Home Depot posted-better-than expected quarterly profits, but Wal-Mart cautioned about the strength of the U.S. consumer.

Potash Corp rejects BHP Billiton's $39 billion offer

BANGALORE (Reuters) - Potash Corp of Saskatchewan said its board rejected BHP Billiton's unsolicited $38.6 billion offer, terming it as "grossly inadequate," and adopted a shareholder rights plan.

SEOUL/TAIPEI (Reuters) - Two Asian manufacturers whose wholly owned units were accused of paying kickbacks to get business from Apple Inc said they were investigating the matter, while a third denied engaging in such practices.
