Description: Police in Glasgow have reassured the public that there is no risk to health after a van carrying chemicals was involved in an early-morning accident on the M8 in the city centre. The accident happened at around 7am in the Westbound carriageway of the road near the Hilton Hotel. Two vans and two lorries were involved in the incident which resulted in the road temporarily being blocked. One man was slightly injured in the accident. Police say that the chemicals that were being carried in a van remained safe, and that the containers that were carrying them were intact and there was no leakage. Its is thought that the chemicals involved were medical supplies. The road was washed as a precaution and the chemicals were removed from the scene. The accident caused extensive delays to rush-hour traffic on the motorway.
