Description: A landslide in northern Peru on Thursday killed at least five people and left three others missing, the country's national institute of civil defense said. The landslide, occurring near the town of Cancejos in Huanuco province, destroyed 10 houses, damaged 43 houses and blocked a section of the inter-provincial highway. Rescuers have already been sent to the disaster area. Cancejos is 550 km northeast of the capital city of Lima. The institute of civil defense said the landslide was triggered by downpours which lasted over five hours in the area. Another landslide a week earlier killed seven people in the mining province of Puno in eastern Peru.
