LONDON/HOUSTON (Reuters) - BP's shares rose on Friday on hopes that it has at last capped the ruptured subsea well that has been spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico for the past three months and can now begin the clean-up.

Hotel fire kills 30 in Iraq's Kurdish north

SULAIMANIYA, Iraq (Reuters) - A fire at a hotel in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaimaniya, possibly triggered by a gas leak, killed 30 people, including foreigners, and injured at least 22 others, police said on Friday.
