KABUL (Reuters) - Pakistan's closure of a key supply line for NATO troops in Afghanistan, and militant attacks on tankers plying second route have "not impeded" the military effort in Afghanistan, a NATO spokesman said on Thursday.

KOLONTAR, Hungary (Reuters) - A toxic red sludge spill from an alumina plant in western Hungary reached a side branch of the Danube, a major European waterway, on Thursday, the spokesman for Hungary's disaster agency said.
