Description: More than 2,000 people have been left homeless as heavy rains have hit southern Brazil, the local civil defense service has said. Stormy winds and downpours reportedly damaged some 2,500 houses in several southern Brazilian states. A total of 500,000 people have been affected by the disaster. There have been no victims reported. A series of powerful storms has hit Brazil's south and south-east since last December. Heavy rains had deluged the largest Latin American city of Sao Paolo for 43 days in a row.
