Situation Update No. 1 Posted:2010-01-30, 05:51:00 [UTC] Ref.no.: SS-20100130-24737-USA Situation Update No. 1 On 2010-01-30 at 06:43:26 [UTC] Event: Snow Storm Location: USA State of Tennessee Tennessee-wide Situation: The winter storm that moved into East Tennessee Friday is causing some hazardous road conditions throughout the region. Ice and snow forced Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials to close U.S. Highway 441 between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, N.C. The Tennessee Department of Transportation issued a general warning in all East Tennessee counties. Specifically, TDOT says there are hazardous road conditions on I-40 in Knoxville near James White Parkway, on I-40 through Cumberland County across the Cumberland Plateau and on I-75 through Monroe County. Transportation officials are also reporting icy spots along Pellissippi Parkway between I-40 and Alcoa Highway and west of the Cumberland Plateau on I-40.
