Situation:

As many as five persons died and dozens more admitted in hospitals as Measles broke out in Maddakhel area of Datta Khel in South Waziristan Agency, sources said on Sunday. As per details, the disease spread within days in the area that affected a large number of people in miserable condition. According to the health officials, Health Department Peshawar was responsible to provide vaccine but the vaccine had not been provided to the area since January last. Child specialists of Miran Shah Hospital, Dr. Ayaz and Ali Muhammad said that the disease could produce cough, pneumonia, brain swelling and some times the patient lost his life. Local people said that curfew was the main reason of the disease because a large number of the patients could not reach hospitals and vaccine was not available to control the situation. The people of the area said that Akram Khan, Member of the National Assembly from the area was present in Islamabad but he was showing negligence to provide vaccine for the people of the area.
