Situation Update No. 5 Posted:2009-12-19, 14:05:26 [UTC] Ref.no.: EQ-20091219-24219-TWN Situation Update No. 5 On 2009-12-20 at 08:55:54 [UTC] Event: Earthquake Location: Taiwan Capital City area Taipei Number of Injured: 14 person(s) Situation: At least 14 people have been injured in a large earthquake off Taiwan. An official with Taiwan's National Fire Agency says the injuries are not serious and there's been minor damage in the capital of Taipei. The U.S. Geological Survey says the 6.4-magnitude quake was centered off the eastern coast of Taiwan. Buildings shook in the capital for several seconds following the tremor. Local TV reported that Taipei's subways and the island's high-speed rail service were suspended.
