Description: The city of Topeka declared a snow emergency at 4 a.m. on Christmas day, acccording to a press release from city spokesman David Bevens. The release stated that people who have parked their cars on designated snow routes must move them or be ticketed or have their vehicle towed at their expense. Designated snow routes are marked with red and white signs, the release said. Bevens went on to explain that city crews are having a difficult time keeping roads open due to falling and drifting snow. Topeka Police Lt. Chuck Haggard said Topeka police have been busy almost non-stop with calls to help stranded drivers. "Everyone is strongly urged to stay home until this storm passes and conditions improve," he said.
