Description: Maryland and Delaware Govs. Martin O'Malley and Jack Markell have declared a snow-related emergency in their respective states, amid piling up snow totals and blizzard-like winds. The National Weather Service isn't forecasting heavier snow totals for the Lower Shore until this evening. However, across the Bay Bridge, more than a foot of snow has piled up in Baltimore and other parts of Maryland. In central Delaware , there is nearly a foot of snow in some places, reports the National Weather Service. As of late morning, there was an unofficial report of 11 inches in Woodside in Kent County. Smyrna had 8 inches by 9 a.m., while a 6 a.m. report from Dover reported just 5 inches — but noted that 2 inches had fallen in the previous hour alone. By declaring a state of emergency, Gov. O' Malley has been able to authorize the deployment of the National Guard.
