Situation Update No. 1 Posted:2010-02-25, 06:42:55 [UTC] Ref.no.: VI-20100225-25071-THA Situation Update No. 1 On 2010-02-26 at 05:48:58 [UTC] Event: Vehicle Accident Location: Thailand Province of Songkhla Na Mom district Number of Injured: 20 person(s) Situation: Twenty people were injured yesterday morning when a YalaNakhon Si Thammarat train derailed in Songkhla’s Na Mom district of southern Thailand. The wounded, five of whom were seriously injured including three railway officers, were immediately sent to hospital. Train services between Hat Yai and Pattani were suspended while the accident scene was being cleared and repaired. The cause of the accident is being investigated and it is suspected that the sleepers or ties that support the tracks were old and had failed to support the train.
