2010-02-28 04:33:27 - Flood - USA EDIS CODE: FL-20100228-25139-USA Date & Time: 2010-02-28 04:33:27 [UTC] Area: USA, State of Maine, , Saco Damage level: Moderate (Level 2) Not confirmed information! Description: A winter storm is creating huge waves and flooding at high tide along the coast of Maine. Waves turned beachfront streets into rivers early Friday in Saco, where storms have claimed several homes over the years. The storm has blown shingles and an antenna off at least one beachfront home and is strong enough to send canoes sailing through the air. Thirty-year resident Mark Anthony says he hasn't seen "any of this type of flooding." Other parts of northern New England are also dealing with flooding as heavy rains add up and help melt the snowpack over the frozen ground. A flood warning is in effect for Goffstown, N.H., early Friday as a river there nears flood stage. No one has evacuated but officials are frequently checking the water level.
