Description:

Greek coast guard rescued Azerbaijani citizen Mikayil Ismayilov from a sinking Georgian cargo ship in the Aegean Sea on Monday night, Gunay Akhundova, an official at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Greece. The ship was 5 miles northeast of the island of Delos, in the eastern Aegean Sea (about 220 nautical miles from the Athenian Piraeus harbor). Four Russian citizens were also on board. The Comoro Islands-flagged ship was sailing from Bulgaria to Turkey with 80-90 tons of cigarettes. According to Akhundova, Ismayilov is now on the Island of Rhodes. "His condition is satisfactory. He has already met with the Azerbaijani consul in Greece," Akhundova said.
