Description:

Flood submerged eight regencies and mayoralties in South Sumatra on Sunday following torrential rains in the past two days, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes. The flood-hit areas are Palembang, Pagaralam, Lahat, Ogan Ilir, Ogam Komering Ilir, Empat Lawang, Muaraenim, and Musirawas. In Musirawas, for example, more than 5,000 residents in three subdistricts - Bulang Tengah Suku, Muarakelini, and Muaralakitan - must be evacuated after flood inundated their homes. The South Sumatra administration had prepared tents, blankets, instant food, and public kitchen for the evacuees.
