The river has risen 1.1 meters above its 360 centimeter flood mark. Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector has made all its personnel in that part of the country available, with regional teams from Ni¹ and Belgrade also joining in efforts to fortify the levees and help people stranded in the flooded areas. Rapid melting of snow also caused floods in the south-central municipality of Kur¹umlija, reports said this Sunday. In some areas, rescuers were unable to reach the flooded households, since local bridges were swept away by torrents, while some roads were also damaged. Local authorities said that several dozen hectares of arable land were flooded, and expect that the state will help in compensating for the material damage.
