Situation Update No. 2 Posted:2010-02-18, 09:22:47 [UTC] Ref.no.: AV-20100218-24982-PAK Situation Update No. 2 On 2010-02-19 at 04:41:40 [UTC] Event: Avalanche Location: Pakistan Province of North-West Frontier Kohistan District Number of Deads: 50 person(s) Number of Missing: 30 person(s) Situation: Nearly fifty people are feared dead and missing after a massive avalanche hit several houses in Kundpa Valley of Upper Kohistan district, officials said on Thursday. Rescue teams managed to recover almost 38 bodies from under the snow and rubble a day after the avalanche on Wednesday. A local government official, Aminul Haq told a private news channel that they had little hope of recovering the remaining 14 alive. Roads leading to the valley have been blocked by heavy snow and rescue teams had to reach the spot on foot.
