Description: The Ministry of Health of Egypt has announced a new case of human H5N1 avian influenza infection. The case is a 37-year-old male from Helwan District, Helwan Governorate. He developed symptoms on 31 Jan 2010 and was hospitalized on 6 Feb 2010, here he received oseltamivir treatment. He is in a critical condition. The case was confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public Health Laboratories, a National Influenza Center of the WHO Global Influenza Surveillance Network (GISN). Of the 97 laboratory confirmed cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) reported in Egypt, 27 have been fatal.
