Description: Police on Monday said that a man was killed and six others were wounded after they came under a snow avalanche in Kangan forests. “A group of seven persons left for Kav Chairwan forests this afternoon to collect some medicinal herbs. However, they were hit by a snow avalanche in the upper reaches,” a police official told Greater Kashmir. He said that locals informed the police, and rescue teams were rushed. “It took 4-hours for the teams to reach the spot as they had to travel on foot,” the official said, adding, “Victims were pulled out and were shifted to a nearby hospital.” One of the persons Nazir Ahmad Banya son of Bulwa Banya died on way to the hospital, while Akram son Muhammad Hanan and Zubair Banya were critical. Four others Mutawali son of Muhammad Hanan, Ghulam Haider son of Abdul Rehman, Abdul Qayoom and Muhammad Majid Bijran son of Dijaya Bijran sustained minor injuries. Top police officials, including Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Station House Officer supervised the rescue operations.
