Description: An explosion took place on Monday at a 511 million ringgit methanol plant owned by Malaysian state oil firm Petronas in Labuan, off the island of Borneo, a company spokesman said. The explosion, at the plant's controlled natural gas flare tip, caused no injuries, and that operations at the plant had ceased. The state oil firm is still gathering information on the incident, the spokesman said, declining to give details. The plant, owned by Petronas Methanol (Labuan) Sdn Bhd, has a capacity of 1.7 million tonnes of methanol per year.
