Situation Update No. 1 Posted:2010-04-12, 06:52:18 [UTC] Ref.no.: FR-20100412-25660-USA Situation Update No. 1 On 2010-04-12 at 07:37:10 [UTC] Event: Fire Location: USA State of New York Chinatown New York City Number of Injured: 10 person(s) Situation: More than 250 firefighters are battling to a massive fire in New York's Chinatown, on Manhattan's lower east side, a New York Fire Department spokesman said today. The alarm was first raised at 10:14pm Sunday (local time), with the out-of-control blaze quickly escalating to a seven-alarm fire as firefighters continued to work to get the flames - engulfing a six-storey building on Grand St - under control. Eleven people have been hurt during the fire including a fireman burnt fighting the blaze, the NYFD spokesman said. Six other firefighters, a paramedic and three civilians - including a 92-year-old male who suffered a "cardiac condition" - have also been injured.
