Description: At least 10 people have been injured in a large fire in a six-storey apartment building in Chinatown located in New York City's Manhattan area. The blaze broke out before midnight on Sunday in the northern part of the crowded traditional district and in no time reached a six-alarm status. The fire department soon transmitted a 7th alarm as the fire, which had started on the lower floors engulfed the building and burst through the roof. More than 250 firefighters and more than 60 units were dispatched to evacuate the mixed occupancy building and fight the flames which drew hundreds of watchers. The blaze spread to an adjacent apartment building in the heavily occupied area in lower Manhattan, Xinhua news agency reported. According to the fire department, three civilians and seven firefighters sustained slight injuries. It was not clear when the fire would be brought under control.
