Description: Some people who decided to go into the water over the Easter holidays were in for an unpleasant surprise. The Department of Environment (DOE) received several reports of jellyfish swarming along the north coast and being swept over into the North Sound. There were even sightings of the Portuguese man o' wars near the north coast and along Seven Mile Beach. DOE workers say several species of jellyfish can be found in Cayman waters and the recent outbreak is definitely not unusual during this time of the year. If you are stung by a jellyfish, experts say vinegar can help ease the pain, but unfortunately vinegar doesn’t work on stings from the Portuguese man o' wars.
