Description: Brazilian authorities say a boat carrying more than 100 commuters capsized in the Amazon River, killing seven people. Authorities say 94 passengers survived the calamity late Monday and were taken to a local ranch near the remote northern city of Monte Alegre. There was no immediate information on their injuries. Para state's news office said in a statement Tuesday that divers were on the scene searching for other survivors. The local fire department said the medium-size boat "Almirante Barroso" was capable of carrying 100 people. It wasn't clear exactly how many were aboard Monday. Authorities were investigating what caused the boat to capsize while it was taking passengers to the jungle city of Santarem.
