Description:

The country’s public safety agencies advised the population of possible downpours of as much as 200 millimeters (almost 8 inches) in the next two days, prompting flash flood warnings and other alerts in 14 provinces. Emergency Operations Center (COE) director Juan Manuel Méndez aid its provincial committees have also been activated to conduct preventive evacuations where needed. The official, in a press conference with Bolivar Ledesma, of the Meteorology Office, said alerts were issued for the entire border region from Pedernales to Montecristi. Méndez asked the media and the population to remain abreast during the long holiday weekend with the information from those agencies to prevent catastrophes. He said the alert, issued in for the residents of all provinces except the East, is especially for those who live in the Yuna river’s lower basin.
