Description:

Farmers across several villages in Aurangabad district have faced substantial losses after a sudden hailstorm damaged their crops. Papaya, bananas, onion, pomegranate and cotton were some of the crops which were completely destroyed in the hailstorm. "All the fruits were ripe, all were destroyed. We will get nothing now. The government should help us," said Shaikh Zaheer, a farmer. The farmers accrued losses amounting to around rupees 300, 000. "We have incurred losses worth rupees 250,000 to 300,000. These fruits are of no use now after getting damaged in the storm. This rain and storm have caused us massive losses," said Sanjay Vasant Rao Badke, another farmer. Around 800 to 1,000 hectares of crops were damaged due to the hailstorm.
