Description:

At least 39 people, including radio dzBB deskperson, Divine Reyes, were hurt after a speeding bus went out of control and crashed into a post of the Sky Garden of the SM North mall along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City before 8 a.m., Monday. Most of the injured passengers were rushed to the city’s East Avenue Medical Center, while Reyes, who sustained wounds to her head, nose, face, and legs, was brought to the Victoriano Luna General Hospital, along V. Luna Road, dzBB said. Reyes, who was about three seats away from the bus driver, was on her way home from work when the incident took place. "Her face got swollen after it hit a metal portion of the bus. Her nose was bleeding. Her legs were squeezed. She has wounds, and bruises in her legs," said dzBB reporter Rowena Salvacion, who went to see Reyes at the hospital. Reyes will undergo CT-scan and X-ray, according to Salvacion. Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) admitted that it might have committed a “lapse" that allowed the speeding bus to crash. LTFRB Chairman Alberto Suansing said he had shifted his agency’s focus on going after abusive taxi drivers who refuse to convey passengers during the Christmas season.
