Description:

Four people died in the last few days in Bangladesh's northwestern Lalmonirhat district, some 343 km from the capital city Dhaka, due to cold weather, reported a local media on Tuesday. Quoting local sources, leading private news agency UNB reported on Tuesday that most elderly people in the district have been suffering from various cold-related diseases while many children experienced breathing problems. It said nearly 1.5 million people of the district are passing their days without adequate warm clothes amid the ongoing cold wave with dense fog as they cannot afford to buy warm clothes from the local markets because of higher prices. Quoting chief of the district administration Alauddin Fakir, UNB said 4,500 blankets have been distributed among the cold-hit people in the district. Fakir said a letter has been sent to the authorities seeking more blankets for the distressed people.
