Event: Vehicle Accident
Location: Philippines Metro Manila Makati City

Number of Injured: 17 person(s)

Situation:

Seventeen persons, including a four-year-old child, were hurt after a taxi cab was hit by a passenger bus on Edsa in Makati City early Tuesday morning. SPO1 Christopher Millares, Makati traffic investigator, said the accident occurred around 3:20 a.m. at the corner of Edsa and Kalayaan Avenue, when a Mega Bus Line Corp. bus rammed the rear-end portion of a cab and a concrete post at the Kalayaan Buendia flyover. Taxi driver Panchito Rosete told investigators he was travelling on the northbound lane of Edsa and had just turned right towards Kalayaan Avenue when the bus suddenly came from behind. Millares said that because of the impact, the taxi was pushed forward as the bus continued its course and the driver lost control of the wheel, hitting a post. The bus driver, Frewaldy Jueves, fled after the accident and had yet to report to the Makati police for questioning as of Tuesday afternoon, Millares said. Jueves could face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property, the traffic investigator said.
