Description:

Four persons, including three women and the bus conductor, were killed on spot and about 30 passengers were seriously injured when a State-owned bus in which they were travelling rammed into a tree in Krishnagiri on Sunday morning. The driver of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus, on its way from Bangalore to Tiruvannamalai, lost control of the vehicle while it was passing through Jagadevi village near Krishnagiri and rammed into a roadside tree. Poor visibility and the irregular road were blamed for the accident. Of the four who died, the woman victims were identified as Sumathra (17) of Bangalore, Kumari of Tiruvannamalai and Sundari (age and place unknown). As the accident occurred around 3.30 am, the passengers could not receive immediate assistance from either the public or the police. However, the Krishnagiri police rushed to the spot along with ambulances as soon as it was informed. They retrieved four bodies and sent them to the Krishnagiri Government Hospital for postmortem. Around 30 passengers, who were seriously injured in the incident, were admitted at the GH. The Krishnagiri police has registered a case.
