Description:

At least eight people suffered minor injuries in a series of collisions on the Sanyo Expressway in Hiroshima Prefecture Thursday morning, police said. At around 8 a.m. a pile-up involving 20 vehicles, including a bus, occurred on the Sanyo Expressway in Asakita Ward, Hiroshima, prefectural police said. In the accident, eight people suffered minor injuries, bringing 40 or so vehicles behind to a halt. Two other accidents involving five vehicles, including a large truck, occurred on the expressway in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture the same morning. Due to the accidents and heavy snowfall, both lanes of the expressway have been closed between the Fukuyama-Nishi Interchange and Yamaguchi Junction. Part of the Hiroshima Expressway in Hiroshima Prefecture and the Chugoku Expressway in Yamaguchi Prefecture have also been shut down because of heavy snowfall.
