Description:

Six mainland fishermen on board went missing during a boat sinking in a sea area off Taiwan on Wednesday night, according to the local harbor bureau. According to the Taichung Harbor Bureau, the boat, with a gross tonnage of 290 tonnes, left the Pingtan island in southeastern Fujian Province on Wednesday. The boat sunk amid high waves and strong winds at about 11:00 p.m. Wednesday near the outer sea area of Hsinchu. The 13 people on board escaped in a life boat and a raft. On Thursday afternoon, seven were rescued and they were in no life danger. According to the local harbor bureau, the rescue was still under way for the other six missing people at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
