Description: A fire in an apartment in the southern French city of Nimes killed five people on New Year's Day and left 13 others injured, police said. The five dead had been living in the same apartment on the top floor of the six-storey building. Several of the injured were living in a neighbouring apartment and suffered from smoke inhalation. Details on the cause of the fire were not immediately available.
