Description: More than 25,000 residents in the State's Central West district were without power for several hours this morning. Western Power spokeswoman Miriam Borthwick said power was cut to about 25,000 customers in Geraldton, Kalbarri and surrounding areas about 4am. She said power was restored at 5.45am but then failed again at 6am, plunging about 16,500 customers into darkness. Electricity was restored again at 7am. The blackout is believed to have been caused by a transmission fault at the Geraldton substation.
