Description:

Eight migratory birds have died of suspected food contamination in Kaziranga National Park, official sources said here today. Eight bar-headed geese died in Sohola Beel in Agratoli range of the park leading to speculation of possible avian flu outbreak since yesterday. Representative of North Eastern Regional Laboratory rushed to the area but the spot test for avian flu gave negative result. The carcasses of the birds have been sent to Bhopal-based testing laboratory for further investigation. Park officials pointed out that the deaths could be due to food contamination as only one breed of the birds have died.
