Event: Flash Flood
Location: Mexico State of Baja California Tijuana

Number of Deads: 1 person(s)
Number of Missing: 10 person(s)
Number of Evacuated: 1000 person(s)

Situation:

Floods have forced at least 200 families from their homes in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, while the search continues for two children swept away by a torrent of water, authorities said Friday. The 200 families, whose homes had been built in flood zones in an impoverished part of the Rio Alamar neighborhood, are staying in two shelters, said Civil Protection director Alfredo Escobedo. Days of storms have sparked flash flooding in parts of Tijuana, leaving some streets in knee-deep water and mud. Three homes built on unstable ground collapsed in the 3 de Octubre neighborhood Friday, but nobody was hurt. Meanwhile, two children, ages 5 and 2, remain missing after floods swept away the car they were riding in Wednesday, killing their 7-year-old sister. Firefighters had initially said at least eight others were missing, but Escobeda said only the two children have disappeared. He said firefighters initially believed others were missing after finding more cars overturned and buried in mud. But he says the cars were found to have been empty when they were swept away.
