Situation Update No. 1 On 2010-01-22 at 10:46:21 [UTC] Event: Power Outage Location: USA State of California Sacramento Situation: Weather-related power outages left more than 40,000 Southern California customers without electricity early Friday utility officials reported. Southern California Edison officials reported about 30,182 customers throughout the region were without electricity, said Edison spokeswoman Lauren Bartlett. The most impacted areas included Inglewood with 1,579 customers and Carson with 1,531 customers in the dark, Bartlett said. Other areas included Blythe and Corona in Riverside County, with 3,589 and 2,361 outages respectively, and, in Orange County, Mission Viejo with 1,547 and Yorba Linda with 1,117, she said. Elsewhere, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power officials reported about 10,000 customers without power Friday. DWP spokeswoman Maychelle Yee said that number represents less than 1 percent of the utility's 1.4 million customers. The impacted areas in Los Angeles included 3,200 in Sawtelle, 2,300 in South L.A., 1,700 in Mar Vista and about 1,000 in Sherman Oaks, Yee said.
